Special Program for the Arts Pre-Qualifying Exams for Incoming Freshmen

AREAS :

(a) DANCE - develops student’s techniques, movement, vocabulary and a deeper understanding of dance as a form of communication and expression
(b) DIGITAL ARTS - teaches students to use elements and tools of current and emerging technologies to create works that express feelings and ideas; students will be trained to analyze and create work through photography, video, audio, computer arts and interactive media
(c) THEATER ARTS - emphasizes on group work skills and live performance of spoken text in a number of styles and genres; contemporary and classical acting techniques will be introduced
(d) VISUAL ARTS - helps students discover what they can produce through their own creativity through paintings, print making, creative crafts and designs, computer graphics, sculpture, etc.
(e) MUSIC - Rondalla, Vocal( Choir )& Band,(Instruments: Flute, Trumpets, Altosax,Clarinets, Tenor Sax, Trombones, Percussion/Drums). Designed for dedicated music students with interest in vocal or instrumental music.
(f) CREATIVE WRITING/MALIKHAING PAGSULAT - train students to explore and write their own ideas and experiences;they will study and work on all genres like poetry, fiction, non-fiction, etc.

REQUIREMENTS and FEE :

1. Duly accomplished application form (forms are available at the BCNHS Guidance Office or download and print a copy through this link.)
2. Two (2) latest and identical 2” x 2” pictures with name tag
3. Photocopy of Grade VI Report Card duly certified correct by the Elementary Principal or bring original copy of Report Card for authentication

Grade requirement as of Third Grading Period :
A general average of 83 % or higher and no failing grade in any subject

4. One Hundred Fifty Pesos (P 150.00) examination fee

HOW, WHEN and WHERE to APPLY :

1. Individual Filing by the student or parent / guardian OR Group Filing by the official representative of the elementary school (Guidance Counselor / Adviser)

2. Filing Period at the Baguio City National High School Guidance Office — 01 February 2010 to 12 March 2010

DATE and VENUE of EXAMINATION :

13 March 2010 (Saturday) 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM BCNHS DepEd Building

RESULTS of the BCNHS – SPAPE shall be posted in the school bulletin board by fourth week of March  2010. Qualifiers of the preliminary screening shall take the Performance Test, Interview & Medical Examination (Final Screening) on April 2010 (exact date to be announced), provided they have maintained the following grade requirement in the Final Rating : A general average of 83 % and no failing grade in any subject.
