The Special Sciences Class is one of the 110 ESEP (Engineering for Science Education and Project) schools in the country with support of the DOST-SEI by providing science equipment, books and science laboratory building. Sixteen (16) computer units have also been provided. One computer has been installed with the internet through the special science PTA federation which students and teachers can avail of daily. As of June 15, 2004, DepEd Order No. 41, s.2004 (revised curriculum of the 110 Science and Technology Oriented (ESEP)) High Schools, the following are incorporated.

1. In line with the DepEd's policy of making the curriculum relevant to the needs of the learners, the Revised Secondary Education Programs of the 110 Science and Technology Oriented High School s offering the Engineering for Science Education Program (ESEP) shall be implemented effective school year 2004-2005.

2. The implementation shall be done on a staggered schedule as follows:

First Year - SY 2004-2005
Second Year- SY 2005-2006
Third Year- SY 2006-2007
Fourth Year- SY 2007-2008

Under the special science classes, additional science and mathematics subjects are offered.

First Year- Earth and Environmental Science
Second Year- Journalism/ICT, basic Statistics in Research, Geometry
Third Year- ICT, Biotechnology/ Advanced Statistics, Basic Physics
Fourth Year - ICT, Advanced Chemistry, Research in Science

Admission
-For students interested to enroll in the Special Science Class, two qualifying examinations are administered. The firs is given by the school which is open to all graduating grade VI pupils at least an average grade of 85% and grades not lower than 80% in any subject. He/she must have a grade of 85% in Science, Mathematics and English. The second set is given by the DOST to the four hundred (400) who qualified in the first screening. The first 150 in the rank shall be admitted to the special science class which shall then be divided into four sections. However, slots of some qualifiers who do not enroll shall be allotted to those in the waiting list (numbers next to 150 qualifiers).

Requirements and Fee
a) Duly accomplished application form
b) Two (2) latest & identical 1.5" x 1.5" pictures (write applicant's name and signature at the back)
c) Photocopy of Grade VI Report Card duly certified correct by the Elementary Principal or bring original copy of report card for authentication.

Grade Requirements as of Third Grading Period:
1. A general Average of 85% or higher
2. Grade in Science & Technology, English and Mathematics must be 85% or higher and,
3. No grade lower than 80% in other subjects,

d) One hundred Twenty Five pesos (P 125.00) examination fee.

Retention
In order that a student remains in the Special Science Class, an average of the final grades in Science, Mathematics and English subject shall not be lower than 85%. However, for other subjects, the grades shall not be lower than 83% and an overall average of 85%. In case a student gets a grade between 75-82.9%, the student is no longer eligible to remain In the Special Science Class.
