Awarded by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, a III-Hydrogen student of Baguio City National High School won Second Place in a National Painting Contest held in celebration of the Araw ng Kagitingan.
Rav Cerezo, the winner of the Regional Painting Contest, was accompanied by his coach Mr. Estelito Mendoza of the Araling Panlipunan department in attending the week-long celebration of the 67th Commemoration of the Araw ng Kagitingan and Philippine Veteran’s Week which culminated last April 7 at Mt. Samat Shrine, Pilar, Bataan. The program, which included the awarding of trophies to the winners of the contest, was attended by other well-known leaders that included Ambassador Makoto Katsuta (Japan), Ambassador Kristie Kenney (USA), and Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita. The President was the guest of honor and speaker during the said commemoration with the theme: Beteranong Pilipino: Kabalikat ng Matatag na Republika.
The celebration is done every year in compliance with Executive Order No. 203, s. 1987 declaring April 9 of every year as the Araw ng Kagitingan and the Presidential Proclamation No. 466, s. 1989 declaring the period of April 5-11 of every year as the Philippine Veterans Week. The commemoration aims to promote, preserve, and memorialize the principles, ideals and deeds of the war veterans as a means to enhance patriotism and love of country, especially among the youth.

Congratulations!
Rav and his siblings have always been allowed by their parents to walk in the path that God has chosen for them along with the excellent skills God has instilled in them before they were even born. That freedom of choice has absolutely helped Rav to hone his creative juices in his own pace.
God himself has something very special for this wonderful kid.
Keep allowing God to use you! We love you!
