BCNHS Special Program in the Arts dominated this year’s WOW Philippines by winning in the various contests held last November 28, 2009.
The first and second years bagged Best in Choreography in the category Existing Festivals with their performance of the “Panagbenga Festival”. The third and fourth years garnered Best in Innovative Props in the New Concept Festivals with “Kaw-Kawitan Ken Up-Upa Festival” which portrayed the courtship of the indigenous people of Benguet.
In the afternoon, during the theatrical performances in Kultura Tako, An Ethnomusicology Exhibition, in the University of the Cordillera’s theater the SPA again won best in performance with their play of “Lumawig” a story of the life of Lumawig on Baguilota (earth) and how he punished his mortal wife for disobedience.
Part of the celebration of “Baguio City’s 100 Years in WOW Philippines” was the “Grand Parade of Cordillera Festival and Baguio Centennial Festival” through Session Road leading to Melvin Jones, where different participating schools and agencies performed street dances, and a program with Congressman Mauricio Domogan as guest speaker.
