Being the defending national champion, Baguio City hosted the National Population Quiz held last November 19, 2009 in the Baguio Convention Center.
Mark Joshua Tan of BCNHS won the title last year. This year, Azher Roi Ferrer, coached by Ms. Mathrina Galasgas of the AP Department, ranked 4th in the said quiz bee following Ell June Abucay of Region 10, Gerald May Banue of Region 9, and Imee Rose Estrada of Region 3.
The annual event is initiated by the National Population Commission in cooperation with the Department of Education. Prior to the quiz bee, an Adolescent Health Youth Development Forum was held in the BCNHS auditorium. The forum was held to teach the students the importance of family planning. There was also a debate between BCNHS and Cordillera Science High School students. The debate was won by the BCNHS representatives Jhonna Joy Fernandez, Liana Mesina, and Fatima Simon.
