The BAGUIO CITY NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL (BCNHS) Alumni Office serves as a center of the former Mountain Province High School (MPHS, 1916-1936), Baguio City High School (BCHS, 1937-1988), and Baguio City National High School (BCNHS, 1988-Present). The association sponsors yearly homecoming usually within the first week of May with the silver jubilations as host.

The association assists the school in many worthwhile projects. The alumni office links the school to its former graduates and to the community. It keeps track of the whereabouts of alumni through out the world and updates the addresses with the hope of having a more functional directory. The office is opened to welcome its graduates.

PROGRAMS

1. SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The Alumni Association for the first time will sponsor this coming school year 2007-2008 four (4) scholars. These initial four will come from first year and if they will maintain the criteria set by the Scholarship Committee, they will be scholars until they graduate. In the selection, initial screening will be done by the Guidance Councilors Office and final approval will be by the Board. As a service to our Co-Alumni, scholars will preferably be their children. Each scholar will receive Php 6000 a year. Depending on donations the alumni will be receiving, the number of scholars maybe increased yearly or the allowance of each scholar maybe raised for the purposes like uniforms, books, etc. In fact it is envisioned that college scholarship may even be given to deserving graduating scholars.

2. CAREER GUIDANCE COUNSELING
A yearly Guidance Counseling Program in coordination with the school is planned. The yearly host class is tapped to do this part of their project. Alumni who are successful in their chosen field or profession would be invited to share their experiences, their ups and downs and how they finally made it.

3. OUTSTANDING ALUMNI
The following were selected this year:
1. Atty. Ruperto Guadaña, Class ’55 for LEADERSHIP
2. Engr. Modesto L. Agayo, Class ’75 for GOVERNMENT SERVICE
3. Ms. Rebecca Napeek-Domogan, class ’72 for COMMUNITY SERVICE
4. Dr. Jasmin V. Reyes-Igama, Class’69 for MEDICAL FIELD
5. Engr. Edgardo Hortaleza, Class’81 for ENGINEERING PROFESSION
6. Col. Armando E. Pamolete, Class ’76 for MILITARY SERVICE
7. Ms. Rosalina Amistad-Semon, Class’56 SPECIAL AWARD

Every year, outstanding alumni are honored by the association. This is a living proof that our school has not failed to live up to its expectations. It would make each alumni and likewise each student proud that we came and belong to the same institution. The list of outstanding alumni is posted prominently at the alumni room for everyone to awe at!

4. LIFETIME MEMBERSHIP CARD
Lifetime Membership Cards will be issued to Alumni Members who will donate Php 5,000.00. The main purpose is to raise funds to initially repair our Alumni room to make it presentable. With more donations in the future, construction of alumni Hall or Dormitory is envisioned. To start the project the first 100 Alumni will be given discount and will pay only Php 3,000.00. This will exempt you from your yearly duties and give you the privilege to donate for a worthy cause. Donors will be placed in a separate bulletin board to encourage other Alumni to donate/avail of the card.

5. ALUMNI ROOM
The fees of the architect who was commissioned by the previous board to do the planning were settled. Improvement by phase was approved pending the availability of funds.

Initial proceeds of the Lifetime Membership Cards would be used. Other donations are also being solicited.

From the school principal however, budget for the renovation of the school wing where the alumni room is located is already available. Hence, actual construction may occur within the year. Likewise with the possible construction of the Alumni Building, plans for renovation of the alumni room maybe restudied.

6. IRISAN PROJECT
Class’56 is congratulated for the acquisition of Irisan lot. Although fencing is not yet implemented, Class’56 are still much active in architectural planning and raising funds for the envisioned construction of the “Sports Center”

7. BY LAWS
The amended By-laws were implemented last year. Legal opinions from Alumni Lawyers were solicited and from Judges Rodolfo Manzano ’56 and Edilberto Claravall ’64, wherein their opinion is that it should be amended. They cited provisions that they think are against the “Corporate Law”.

The board is unanimous that amendment is needed but then the majority feels that a careful and unhurried deliberation should be done.

8. WEBSITE/COMPUTERIZATION
The alumni website is planned to be the main thrust of next year. Computers will be needed and trained personnel to handle them would be recruited.

Encoding of all the graduates would also be done so that all the Alumni per class would easily be known. Expert volunteers to help in this project are much welcome.
